The Nesting Pad
The Nesting Pad is a residential project completed my freshman year. This was my first project that I was able to dive into and use my creative freedom. This loft takes place in Boston and is a transitional space made for an adult male. This project had many requirements giving the challenge of designing for a small space. All hand rendering.

The study of how a gesture can become a design. The lines here show organic curves and a cradling sense.

The 2D parti is directly incorporated in the the floor plan. Spaces are divided by function, but also by how the parti was drawn.

A model of the loft was constructed and the elements of burlap and twine were added. These forms copy the shapes created with in my 2D parti. This exercise also aided with space planning.

Hand rendering of the 2nd floor axonometric. White space shows opening to first floor.

View 1 shows the murphy bed open.

View 2 shows the muphy bed pulled up and the dining table and chair up. This is a storage increasing technique created by Bo Larsson. All that is need is 2 ft deep under the floor. By pressing a screen of the slected furniture, the table and chairs will lift from the floor on a hydraulic lift.

This is the view into the kitchen. Refrigerator is located in the under cabinets.
